Day 5 Friday 3rd February: Pofu campsite 4,040m to 3rd Caves Camp 3,971m. Distance 6.7km
Today we carried on clockwise from Pofu campsite (4040m) to 3rd Caves Camp (3971m). Gradual traversing of Kili with classic views to the North-West, North and North-East.
We got great views of Mount Mawenzi (5149m) which it is currently illegal to climb, given the unstable rock formations. looks stunning though.

The weather was perfect with not a cloud in the sky. The excitement was now building, Kili within touching distance!
Today was the last opportunity to take Diamox or not and after a lot of back and forth I decided to risk it.
Below: 3rd Caves Camp
Below: Nick and the Chef served our mashed potato in the shape of Kili, with a symbolic knife planted in the top. If only it was that easy!
